Lieutenant Tony Bongiorno has been a police officer for 14 years. Lt. Bongiorno graduated from the Boston Police Academy in 2008 where he was hired by the Arlington Police Department. In April 2010, Lt. Bongiorno transferred to the Cambridge Police Department. Lt. Bongiorno has spent much of his career in the operations division working night patrol. Lt. Bongiorno has experience in the Professional Standards Unit and The Family and Social Justice Section, where he currently is the unit commander of 26 sworn and non-sworn employees.
Lt. Bongiorno is a member of the Greater Boston CISM (Critical Incident Stress Management) Team and a member of the Cambridge Police Department Peer Support and Resilience Team. Lt. Bongiorno has a Master’s degree from Curry College in Criminal Justice. Lt. Bongiorno has been an instructor for the MPTC as well as the Cambridge Police Department for Procedural Justice and Fair & Impartial Policing.
